about

I’m Alexa. Artist, traveler, hiker, seamstress, occasional chef, and wedding photographer since 2018. My husband Alex (different person, similar name) often joins me on wedding days. We’re both in favor of doing things your own way. We got hitched in Scotland on a tiny remote island, Eilean Shona, which seemed reasonable at the time and feels even more reasonable today. I tend to prefer fewer things done well, and days that move at a human pace. If that resonates, we’ll likely understand each other.

Ethos

My role as your photographer is to arrive curious and stay attentive. I toe the invisible line between between observing and participating, close enough to feel it and far enough not to interfere.

My goal is to find and photograph this uniquely human celebration in all it’s spectrum of emotions. The only constant, after years of doing this, is that no two days behave the same way. That unpredictability is the magical stuff.

I’m there to notice what’s happening, and to make sure you have room to experience it.

Proof

I’ve photographed weddings for 8 years now, and Alex has been doing it for 12. During that time we’ve stopped counting the miles, although by our calculation it’s roughly two hundred celebrations and a nearly-embarrassing amount of airport coffee.

We’ve documented celebrations up at 12,000+ ft in Colorado, on the coastal cliffs of California, in the valleys of Upstate NY, and many other places that don’t show up on postcards. We go where we’re invited and we pay attention; peruse our portfolio to see for yourself, or scroll down ↓ to read what others have said about us.

Analog

I shoot both photo and Super 8 video using film cameras because it’s the closest thing to, well… the real thing. Despite efforts to imitate these intangible qualities on digital, it’s just never been the same. Your moments are best immortalized on rolls of yummy film.

We’ve shot weddings entirely on film since 2020. We only shoot the good stuff (Kodak mainly, slide sometimes, and funky stocks by request) on film tested cameras. And yes, we haul all of this gear on planes, trains, long distance car rides, boat, you name it.

Film is the medium where photography was born. It’s at once nostalgia, a creative preference, and how we see things.

housekeeping

This work goes beyond being creative (although I love that part); it equally means being present, thoughtful, and responsive from start to finish. I show up with care and keep things organized so you don’t have to think about them.

From now to your wedding day and after, we’re here to support your vision from the smallest detail to your off-the-wall, “wouldn’t it be amazing if….” ideas you’re cooking up.

Let’s make it happen.

Our Life

After living out of a Sprinter van for 3 years, we now reside in a tiny cabin in the woods just outside of Asheville, NC. We loved exploring the nooks and crannies of the our national parks and finding hidden gems off the beaten path over the years. It showed us how beautiful this country really is.

Today we are settled down in the Blue Ridge Mountains. So even though our house isn’t on 4 wheels anymore, movement is still very much a part of my life. Aka, I’ll haul my ass to wherever you are and you can bet your lil’ tush I’ll be there.
