Hi,

This is where I put the good things, the strange things, and the things that matter.

I’m an film wedding photographer and most of what you’ll see is shot on film: 35mm, medium format, instant film, sometimes Super 8. The format isn’t the entire point, but it does change how I handle documenting your day. Slows things down a bit. Makes you choose.

Weddings have a way of unfolding (delightfully) unevenly. People doing small, repetitive things when they’re waiting, adjusting something that doesn’t need adjusting, checking in with no one in particular, walking somewhere and forgetting why. Someone straightens a jacket that was fine. Someone else just stands there, thinking. These odd blips carry all the weight.

If you’re sorting through film wedding photographers, this is one version of how it can be done. The rest of the site gets more specific if you need it.*

Greetings, I’m Alexa, your film wedding photographer, possibly. My passion for honest story-telling is rooted in photographing my own life on real film. I use the same cameras for weddings, not only for nostalgia, but because they tell the truth in a way I trust. I’ll photograph your celebration with the same care I give my own days. There’s a longer explanation somewhere on this site, if that’s your thing.

Working

Together

If you’re looking for an film wedding photographer, the process shouldn’t feel complicated.

Most weddings here have a bit of movement to them. Locations change, weather shifts, timelines stretch or compress depending on the day. It’s normal. The work is mostly about paying attention to that and not forcing it into something overly structured.

I spend most of the day watching. I step in when needed for portraits, small adjustments, keeping things on track; but otherwise let things unfold. The photography leans documentary, and because it’s shot on film, the rhythm is slower by default. It leaves less room for overthinking and more room for noticing.

I photograph weddings most often as a two-person team, which keeps coverage consistent and gives space to follow what’s happening in more than one place at once.

There’s more detail around pricing, planning, and what to expect if you’d like to get into it. Or you can skip that and just keep looking →.

Something brought you this far down the page.

A Curiosity, question, or pull to send a message →you’re in good company. hiring a wedding photographer is a big decision. here’s answers to the most common questions i receive.

  • I am based in Asheville, NC

Yes, I travel frequently for weddings. Destination travel is built into every package I offer. I frequently photograph weddings across the country and internationally. Wherever your adventures take you, you can bet your tush I’ll be there.

  • Yes, real film, actual celluloid - 35mm, medium format, Polaroid, and Super 8. This is not a digital file run through a filter to imitate the real thing. I've been shooting primarily on film since 2020 because I genuinely believe it’s the best medium to capture what a moment feels like, not just what it looked like. You can tell the difference when it’s film.

  • Enough to tell the whole and complete story of your day. Film naturally creates intentionality, which means every image in your gallery was meticulously scrutinized and curated. The exact image count varies by wedding length and how the day unfolds.

  • We are currently booking for 2027 into early 2028, with limited availability left for 2026. Send an inquiry to check availability for your wedding date.

I am fully booked for Super 8 videos in 2026.

  • As soon as you know your wedding date, especially for weddings in the fall (September-October) in Asheville and elsewhere. Popular weekends book out a year or more in advance and I take on a limited number of weddings per year. If your date is coming up soon, reach out anyway. I sometimes have last minute availability and it never hurts to ask.

  • The first step is just reaching out by sending an inquiry. Share a bit about your day in whatever detail you have, and I'll get back to you within 48 hours to schedule a meet and greet call. A soft hold is placed on your wedding date the moment you inquire.
