Craving Life
asheville wedding photographer
Hi,
If you've landed here and something made you stay, my guess is you already know what you're looking for.
You appreciate handmade items, film photography, exciting antique finds, discovering new-to-you places, and can easily notice the difference between something real and something contrived. You might have even made your mood board in Figma.
I'm a film wedding photographer based in Asheville, and most of what you'll see here is shot on real film: 35mm, medium format, instant film, sometimes Super 8. The format isn't entirely the point, but it does change how I handle documenting your day. Slows things down a bit. Makes you choose.
If you're sorting through Asheville wedding photographers, you already know how easy it is to end up with photos that look like everyone else's wedding. This is one version of how it doesn't have to be that way. It's what I'd want for myself, and I'm making it here for you. The rest of the site gets more specific if you need it.*

Greetings, I’m Alexa, your asheville wedding photographer, possibly. If you've been scrolling for a while and nothing has quite clicked, I get it. Finding someone whose work actually feels like you is harder than it should be. My approach to documenting weddings is rooted in how I document my own life. Not just for nostalgia, but Because film tells the truth in a way I trust. I'll photograph your celebration with the same care I give my own days. If you want the longer version, it's on the about page.

Working
Together
Working together shouldn't feel complicated. Here's what you can expect:
Flexibility. Most weddings have a bit of movement to them: locations unexpectedly change, who tf knows if it’s going to rain, timelines stretch or compress depending on the day. The work is mostly about paying attention to that and not forcing it into something overly structured.
Observation. I spend most of the day watching. The kid nephew picking his nose, someone straightening a jacket that didn't need straightening, walking into a room and forgetting why. These little blips in time are what weddings are made of and are photographed when photographers earn a welcome into social circles.
Camera shy? Which brings up the thing most couples mention when they first reach out: they don't think they look good in front of a camera. Every couple on this website said some version of that. I'd invite you to look at the portfolio and reconsider.
Documentary. The photography leans documentary and because it's on film, the rhythm is slower by default. Less room for overthinking and more room for noticing. I photograph most weddings as a two-person team, which keeps coverage consistent and gives space to follow what's happening in more than one place at once.
There’s more detail around pricing, process, and what to expect if you’d like to sink your teeth into more.
